Second anniversary of the death of Mahsa Amini (September 15, 2024)

Two years after the death of Mahsa Amini and the start of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, France continues to stand with Iranian women in their fight for freedom.

With its feminist foreign policy, France remains dedicated and determined to combat and eliminate all forms of gender-based violence worldwide, especially violence against women and girls. We will continue to promote the universalization of the Council of Europe’s Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention), as it represents our most advanced international instrument to combat violence against women.

Storm Boris (September 15, 2024)

France is deeply distressed by the devastating consequences of Storm Boris, which is affecting Central and Eastern Europe and has led to several deaths. It has also forced the evacuation of thousands of people and caused enormous material damage. We offer our condolences to the bereaved families.

France expresses its absolute solidarity with the people and authorities of Austria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Together with its European partners, France stands ready to respond to requests for assistance.

France condemns the Russian strike against a Ukrainian grain vessel in the Black Sea (September 11, 2024)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms the Russian missile strike against a cargo ship carrying Ukrainian grain to Egypt on September 11. After carrying out repeated strikes against Ukrainian port facilities involved in grain exports, Russia continues to jeopardize the food security of millions of people.

France reiterates that Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has significantly aggravated global food insecurity and malnutrition. This blackmail against food security has affected the world’s most vulnerable populations for more than two and a half years now.

The conference hosted by Ukraine on September 4 dedicated to the food security point of its Peace Formula highlighted, in this regard, the consequences of the Russian aggression on food security.

France reaffirms its unwavering commitment to global food security. Since 2022, we have provided funding to the World Food Programme in connection with the Grain From Ukraine program, in order to deliver wheat and Ukrainian agricultural products to more than 6.62 million people in Somalia, Yemen, Sudan and Palestine.
